If we  look on the basic design of counting Machine ( which only count Notes) then we  get to know that there is a part called hopper where we fed Note stacks. The counting machine then pulls each Note through individually, instantly recognizing the number of times an internal beam of light is interrupted to determine the denomination and provide a total. Some Note counting Machine can also detect counterfeit Notes by using black light (UV) to illuminate the Notes, which have florescent symbols imprinted on them, in order to help distinguish the real from counterfeits.
